Three of the greatest athletes in their sport are competing this week at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Wayne Gretzky, Aaron Rodgers, and Kelly Slater are inside the ropes, and the trio is appreciative for the opportunity.
“It fills your competitive juices for sure, but it’s also a fun week with the fan support that we have out here,” said Rodgers. “Three amazing courses and just to be able to spend time with Jerry is a lot of fun.”
The Green Bay Packers quarterback is paired with Wisconsin native Jerry Kelly and tied for 28th in the team division when play was called Thursday afternoon.
“I love these three courses,” pro surfer Kelly Slater said. “I love the tournament, it’s fun to see guys like Bill Murray and meet a bunch of the pros.”
Slater is teamed with James Hahn and are 2-over with one hole remaining in their opening round.
Wayne Gretzky is playing with his daughter’s fiance, Dustin Johnson, who’s paired with Jordan Spieth for the first three rounds.
“I get to walk inside the ropes and walk with two of the best players in the game today, in Jordan and Dustin,” said Gretzky. “I get a birds-eye view and I feel very privileged and I really enjoy the entire week.”
